MY NSF LIFE part 3

There we are, landed in 42SAR. With a fk up OC, Cpt Jacky, and a not so bad CSM, MSG Vincent. Soon after we came in, we had our induction, a reverse SOC, and i was the lucky one choosen to be one the stretcher HAHA!

Not long later the whole company went india for training. And thinkin tat there comes our ownage time. But however to our disappointment we were made AI for some bronco lessons.
Other den 1 lazy spec we have, the rest was actually doing well with their job. Bk and I were the admin specs, Kenny n Hee were the OVM specs, Wei Hao was the signals spec, and of coz Duane and I were the armskote spec. Wei Xuan eventually became our PS and at first there was some problem but as time goes by he changed and became a better PS.

Our men was considered very obedient as compared to other platoons. Other den our medic, the rest aint giving us any problems. And soon after living for quite some time in 42SAR, our OC finally changed to the BEST OC we could ever wish for, CPT LECK. Welfare was finally recovered after he took over the command. We practically had 4 and a 1/2 day work wk for every wk until before ATEC stage 1.

Life was fantastic until october draws near. We had to prep for Ex. Wallaby. Cleaning up every single shit item we have to bring there, field pack to boot lace, it had to be dust-free. Well until then i realise i had to accept the fate tat i'm slowly taking over the CQMS appointment from zhiwei. Finally the check was over and i was anticipating my role as a CQ in wallaby, Australia rockhampton. From ration to sleeping bags and safari beds i had alot of job to take care of since day 1 of my arrival. The pics on the previous posts are much to describe the living conditions there.

After wallaby, nxt high key was the LAB audit check. I officially took over CQMS and continue the job by preparing my store for the check. Making sure all the items was in correct amount and in servicable condition. But in the end, they din even check my store -.-
So after tat the new pioneer specs came in, took over most of our jobs, and I oso handed over my store. Finally this journey has came to an end for me, 1year 10months. Chao keng, report sick, real or fake, doesnt really matter to me anymore, i've missed too many things in my NSF life, and i dont even wan to get bothered by them. Parades, marching, drills, I had enough of them.

Now i'm moving out to the civilian world again, retriving my long lost frend, recovering my freedom, I feel more disciplined and motivated to work harder to achieve better results, acedemically and physically. I've got to know many good buddies during NSF life, even those old specs in my 42SAR, Brendan, YuanHong, Joseph. Elite soldiers such as, zongxuan, kheng loon, ke xiong, meng hee, leslie, jasper. Lazy bumps like duane and the MTR specs. All kind of pple that can survive w/o bathing for so many days, or slp even if they're standing. NS taught me many great lessons tat can nv b learnt from school. DISCIPLINE, ENDURANCE, GIVE AND TAKE, AND SWALLOW EVEN IF ITS HARD ON ME. Its a milestone tat toughens me up and prep me for the real world.

Im no longer a young chap, im 22. And i hope this journey which ends today, for me, will continue on with the rest who are still in service for the SAF, striving hard to protect the nation, and maintain the peace of the country.

I here by conclude my service for the Singapore Armed Forces - Full time Servicemen, officially ends today, 100510. The memories of my fellowship, brotherhood, fun times, tough times, will forever be inside my heart. Written here as a evidence of my existence, and for how long tis blogspot serves.

Good Bye SAF, Thank you for your teachings.

MY NSF LIFE part 2

Hey, im back to continue my NSF life after SISPEC, which is now no longer called SISPEC from wad i know. Its newly knowed as Specialist Cadet School.

ok, as from last post, i was sent to ETI in Nee Soon Camp as a Combat Engineer trainee. During the first day together with my daffel bag, my dad sent me to nee soon camp. At first i only tot i was in the same field as meng hee and yee pong. But surprisingly when i reached the training shed waiting for the tonner, i saw JASON KOH and TAN JUN WEI once again! YES, AGAIN!

I was more den happy to see them again, and wads more? There were more then i expect to know in the same platoon. And who are they?
Namely,
Chee Han
Zi Ming
Ang Eng Ann, Alan
Jia Hao

All these for i can rmb, are my old frens either from BMT same company or my ex secondary school frens.
In our bunk, platoon 3 section 2 bunk 1 to be exact, there were 5 of us who were old BMT platoon mates. This greatly triggered my motivation to finish this 1 mth with them. Though this is prolly the shortest period of my trainee life in ETI but however its one of the best as well. Coz of this fate, or maybe the human resource side had done a great job, I was able to meet my old frens once again and do this shit tgt with them. And with them, i know im not alone. From cleaning the toilet to doing "sai gang", we do them volunteerily. Learning new basics away from the infantry style, was pretty interesting and new for me. Playing with demolitions, mine prodders was definitely a new try and interesting gadget to fondle. And its also at ETI, tat i had my first encounter with the m16 rifle, and picking up the armskote men appointment again.

We learned different demolition charges, from a size of a thumb to a size of a 26inch lcd tv. Learnt minefield, mine clusters, and boring sessions of intensive lectures. And there was even once we got knock it down in the bloody lecture room!!! HAHAHAHA isnt that hilarious? I was like laughing my bloody ass off when i was in the pumping position, it was so funny tat almost the pple ard me were also laughing their ass off when we changed position from pumping to crunches and back to pumping. This was old school.

Next, when we were first introduced to our engineer song. This bloody loser, Tommy, made fun of the song by changing the lyrics to some bangla thing, causing us to march ard the parade square like a dog.

And soon our 1month is up, we're moving off to the specialize engineer field, namely, Field Engineers (FE), Armoured Engineers (AE), Plant Engineers, FLB.
From this point onwards, my buddies left me again, jun wei and alan went to the HOTTER selection, the Plant. While me, Jason, Meng Hee, Zi Ming, Wei Hao, Yee Pong went to the more interesting selection, the Armour family.

So we left ETI and moved to the furthest camp of all.... Sungei Gedong Camp. "Once armour, Always Armour."
And indeed, this last phase of my trainee lifespan in sungei gedong made me rooted to this camp, FOREVER.

We went to AETC, which is aka 38SCE now for training. 2nd Warrant Officer Vincent was our incharge and Staff Wong was our welfare PS. Now there i landed in the same bunk as, Jason Koh (yes once again), Yap Wei Hao (joker), Ziming, Yee Pong, Tommy.
We learnt how to operate, drive and service a Bronco. What are the necessary stores and OVMs we need to prep the vehicle, how to prep-for-ops and how to make the bronco swim.
We also did some live firing with our favourite engineer demolitions.

During the armoured engineer course, we had a few out fields before the summary exercise. I can rmb there was once we came back frm a out field, everyone was so shag, den we tio fk. Staff Lee was giving us a 1 time good 1, den he suddenly ask jason koh, aka yandao, "Eh yandao let me ask you, why do u need 3 to 4 pple to clean 1 bloody L plate?" (He was asking tis in a very stern look, and the atmosphere was so intense because Staff Lee was angry). Guess wad jason replied?
"Because its VERY DIRTY." (He said this w/o thinking much) And then the whole group of us burst into laughter. Then we tio knock it down liao HAHA. Well i cant rmb exactly how the scolding went but i roughly rmb its something like this, and we all laughed so hard that my tears almost rolled out.

Soon CNY came, den then another theft case arise. Wei Hao's 500 bucks went missing in 2 different occasions. First time he din wan to make a big fuss bcoz its book out day, if he were to report, he knew everyone book out timing will get delayed. So he said nvm.
The 2nd time, he lost approx 200bucks i think? He decided to report it. And this time, its after an out field exercise den it went missing. And the suspects were those who didnt go outfield, and unfortunately, i was one of them. But after a thorough investigation, before the book out, we were made to do a full body inspection, we even took off our pants to check the underwear. And that was the time the culprit was finally caught. The money was found to be hidden inside the underwear in one of the main suspect. And it was a few hundred bucks. He was immediately taken away by court martials and charged to DB. Well, luckily in this incident i didnt get framed by this fella. And most importantly my innocence was cleared. PHEW!!

These were the few big incidents tat happened during my stay in AETC. Lastly, after our sum-ex, transformers, i can still vaguely rmb on the 13/2/09 after a few smses, i broke off with my last girlfriend. It was really disheartening, as it happened directly before valentines. I made a lot of preparations for her, and even pre-ordered flowers. But it didnt work. On the same period of time, Hee received a bad news from his beloved girl as well, causing him to break down during the final Passing out Parade. We're all fooled by the word love i wud say...

And soon we finally passed out as a 3rd Sergeant. We went back to Sungei Gedong camp AGAIN and headed to a new home called the 42th Battalion Singapore Armoured Regiment. Together with my fellow mates, Wei Xuan, Wei Hao, Meng Hee, Kenny, Boon Kiat and Duane, we joint the family of SERVAL COY from 270209 onwards.

MY NSF LIFE part 1

Talking abt my NSF life, it marks a life which includes friendship, love, brotherhood, and taking up responsibilities and learning experiences. From a recruit, to a private, to a corporal, and den to a 3rd seargeant. A long 1 yr 10mths regimental life, loss of freedom, a love that i nv had a chance to explain how much i cared and 1 girl tat i failed to woo.

2008, 11th of July. I was officially enlisted into BMTC school 2 together with Wilfred, Yee Pong. The 3 of us were pretty optimistic at first, but once we reached our coy line after taking some noobsh!t oath, I realise I was posted to different coy, while fred n pong went to the same bunk in COY P, i went to COY R (raven).

There i met my first bed buddy, Tan Jun Wei. A really good fren... And also saw an old fren, Jason Koh! Life in BMT was like dog, tough but yet enjoyable coz of those funny pple ard me.
I felt very honoured to know this guy calle Ian Chan, he was a regular Pilot-to-be at that time.
He was really gd in the army stuff, we learnt much from him since day 1 and not to disappoint us, he was the company best soldier. In our very small section, we shared with each other many things from personal to army. I rmb i once talked to Ian during the field camp abt my girl, and his as well. It was a really good chat, being in that kind of situation(field camp), it make me feels im not alone. And during the last 2nd night, in our self-script, during my 1/3 alert timeslot, Ian was the platoon IC, he came to me to check out whether did i fall aslp and chatted with me to keep me accompany till my timeslot is abt to end. And most importantly not to forget the times we laugh and joke in our sea-facing bunk, we often sit tgt infront of the window after dinner to watch the sunset slowly setting into the evening sky. During the sunset, the 2 musicians namely, Frans and Ian, took out their guitar and start playing so we could enjoy a better sunset.
Finally towards the end of the BMT training, we had a OC evening, Ian n Frans played a wonderful piece of "Hotel California" tgt with the sweet vocal of Alan Ang. I wont forget how we hump and sing along with the guitars played from the famous hands in the Raven 3 Section 2 bunk. Its the MOST memorable and enjoyable experience in my entire NSF tat i can have such fun even knowing the fact that we're still serving the fking NATIONAL SERVICE.

To those who might still rmb and concern:
Bed 1 - Frans Lee
Bed 2 - Zheng Chuang
Bed 3 - Long Sheng
Bed 4 - And Eng Ann, Alan
Bed 5 - Tan Jun Wei
Bed 6 - Wong Guan Zhong
Bed 7 - Tan Jun Long
Bed 8 - Roy
Bed 9 - Lee Tai Heng
Bed 10 - Shawn
Bed 11 - Shane Sng
Bed 12 - Ian Chan
Thank you all for making my 9wks BMT stay very enjoyable.
And on the very last day in BMT,i I march my 21km route march and POP-ed as a Private.

During this block leave, I got back in contact with one of the girl tat i fancied in the past. And soon manage to catch her pretty heart, held her hands and our love blossomed. But unfortunately this blossom didnt lasted. Which till now, i cant have my chance to say im sincerely sorry. Its all fated to be my regret.

After my BMT, I was posted to SISPEC, K COY. Knowing life will be so miserable there, that I was grumbling the first day. But soon i realise i still had a small luck with me, which is to have my old BMT section mate, Shane, with me in the SAME section once again. He told me to endure this shit together and POP as a CPL tgt. And after much encouragement, I decided to go with him, but though im not as good as him, i still hang in there till the very last min and POP as a CPL.
Seriously i wud say my stay in K coy Sispec wasnt a fruitful one. I din have much motivation to do things at tat point of time, but surprisingly, my physical status was the best in Sispec. Might be due to the fact that i know i have a girl out there tat will wait for me every wk end, tat i made this reason for me to push on for a peaceful stay and early book out every wk end, just to see her face. Day by day passed in Pasir Laba Camp, I got to know this kid call ah boy, he's really cute. I could still rmb his name is Tan Chin Han. A young boi... who eventually became my buddy after one guy OOC-ed. The days in Sispec passed on tgt with the memory of my ex-gf. And on the day we pass out, we were told where we will be going, some ASLC, some armour, some Recce, some Artillery, some Signals, some Air force, some Engineers. And for me, I was announced to become a Armoured Engineer Specialist.

And thats where we embark off into the next phase of my Specialist trainee life.
Next station - ETI(Engineer Training Institude). And so farewell Pasir Laba Camp! BYE BYE sispec!
